Fern patchwork cyanotype print on fabric, embellished with delicate gold foil detail. Inspired by a childhood raised in the Dorset countryside where the ferns would grow in the shade of the trees, under the giant redwood trees. This piece is about my childhood, the patch work for the higgledy-piggledy forms of the woods I played in as a child. The patchwork we used to do with the scraps of fabric from my mum's workroom, cutting up fabric sample books with no particular purpose.
Cyanotype is the historical photographic process, also known as a photogram. This process uses natural sunlight with exposures varying depending on time of day and time of year for the intensity of the sun's rays.
